Marrie Saplad

b. 1984

Painting

Based in Manila, Philippines. A self-taught painter who renders everyday things—glasses and bottles, handkerchiefs, teabags—in black and white alone. Her still lifes, built on patient observation of light and shadow, are made in the hope that viewers will feel calm. She began her first series in 2017, and her work has since been shown at Maison&Objet in Paris (2024) and at ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA (2025). In September 2026 she opened her solo exhibition "PURE" at YOD TOKYO in Jingumae, Tokyo.
