León Gallery
G/F Eurovilla 1, V.A. Rufino cor. Legazpi St., Legazpi Village, Makati City
León Gallery is one of the Philippines' leading auction houses, founded in 2010 by Jaime Ponce de Leon in Legazpi Village, Makati. Since its first auction in 2013, its major sales, held several times a year, have repeatedly set new records for Philippine art — most famously in 2018, when José Joya's Space Transfiguration sold for 112 million pesos. Its specialty is historically important Philippine art: masters such as Juan Luna and Fernando Amorsolo, modernists including Anita Magsaysay-Ho and H.R. Ocampo, and figures like Fernando Zóbel. It is equally respected for antiques from the pre-Hispanic period through the nineteenth century — furniture, ivory, silver and old maps among them. León Exchange, its quarterly online auction, offers more accessible pieces. The house also stages exhibitions at its León Gallery International space, including a 2018 Nam June Paik show organised with Gagosian. Bids can be placed in the room, by phone or online. It suits collectors and researchers who want to see how the finest Philippine art is valued and passed on.
