Salcedo Auctions

NEX Tower, 6786 Ayala Avenue, Makati City

Salcedo Auctions was founded in Makati in 2010 by Richie Lerma, a former curator at the Ateneo Art Gallery, and Karen Kua-Lerma, a certified diamond grader. Now based in NEX Tower on Ayala Avenue, it is one of the houses that established art auctions in the Philippines, and is often described as a barometer of the local market. Its calendar is built around three signature sales: The Well-Appointed Life, its flagship; Finer Pursuits in mid-year; and Under the Tree: The Wish List at the end of the year. Important Philippine art sits at the centre, alongside antique furniture, jewellery and watches, ethnographic objects, rare maps and books. In 2019 Félix Resurrección Hidalgo's La Pintura sold here for 78.256 million pesos. Since 2017 its online platform gavel&block has offered contemporary art and design in a more approachable format, and a hybrid system lets bidders take part in the room and online at the same time. It works well both for first-time bidders and for seasoned collectors.
